The Mill Studio was founded by its Artistic Director, Chelsea trained artist, Piers Ottey, in 1994 in West Ashling. The School moved to a purpose-built studio in a converted Sussex barn in 2000, with the aim of providing uncompromising, cutting edge art tuition in a superb rural setting.

The Studio sits in the Arun Valley near picturesque market town of Arundel, within easy reach of road inks and a regular mainline train service from London. There is an extensive art library as well as parking.

In 2024 the Art School evolved into workshop space and periodic exhibitions in the gallery.

Piers Ottey has his own studio on the premises and he is currently working on his major large scale "World Series" alongside Sussex landscapes and portraits.
